For over 20 years, Lalita Krishna has been producing and directing documentaries that have screened on all major networks, and featured at film festivals around the world.

Lalita’s documentaries have been acclaimed for bringing important topics to the forefront and have often been a catalyst for change. Through her company, In Sync Media, Lalita also creates websites and mobile apps to enhance the documentary viewing experience and to facilitate impact campaigns.

Lalita is currently working on two feature documentaries on important social issues of domestic violence and girl empowerment. Both are slated for release in 2019. Previous productions include Listen to Me, winner of the Best feature doc at Real World 2015 – the story of a survivor of child abuse who uses expressive arts therapy to help young women deal with family violence. Lowdown Tracks DM which supported a phenomenal outreach and impact campaign for the Feature documentary and got over 6.5 million views on the lowdowntracks Youtube channel, Semisweet: Life in Chocolate – an internationally acclaimed film about chld labour in the chocolate trade, with a mobile app to track good chocolate. Mallamall a sensory portrayal of corporaate takeover of the retail trade in India, through the stories of the mom and pop store owners who presently run 90% of the markets. Lalita’s films Breakout, Jambo Kenya and Ryan’s Well on the theme of social activism are used in Canadian and international schools with accompanying teacher’s guides. In addition to several awards for her films, Lalita is the winner of the 2013 Crystal Award for mentorship given by WIFT (Women in Film and Television), the Trailblazer (2012) award given by the Reel World Film Festival and is the recipient of the Dream Catcher award given by the Hope and Dreams Festival NJ for using her craft to better humanity.

She has taught Diversity in Media at Ryerson University Journalism program, Media studies at the George Brown College Community Worker program and Media literacy at Mount Saint Vincent University Summer Institute.

Lalita is the Co-chair of the prestigious Hot Docs documentary film festival and the Co-Chair of the Ontario chapter of the Documentary Organization of Canada.
