Milton Film Festival Receives Funding from Government of Canada’s Community Services Recovery Fund

Milton, ON – The Milton Film Festival is thrilled to announce that it has been selected as a proud recipient of $30,000 from the Community Services Recovery Fund, a program initiated by the Government of Canada. As the long-term recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic continues, we welcome the Government of Canada’s push for a more inclusive model of economic growth that creates opportunities for everyone in Canada.

The Community Services Recovery Fund is a one-time $400 million investment from the Government of Canada to support community service organizations, including charities, non- profits and Indigenous governing bodies, as they adapt and modernize their organizations.

The Milton Film Festival has been an integral part of the Milton community for over a decade, consistently bringing world-class cinema to local audiences. This generous funding will enable the festival to not only continue its tradition of showcasing exceptional films but also expand its outreach and engagement efforts. The funds will be allocated towards enhancing the overall festival experience, supporting local filmmakers, and implementing innovative programming to engage diverse audiences.

“Our government created the Community Services Recovery Fund to help over 5,000 organizations across the country adapt, modernize and better equip themselves, so that they can continue to support Canadians, do their important work and keep Canada and Canadians moving ahead through these challenging times,” said Adam van Koeverden, MP Milton. “Theatre, cinema and the arts took a hard hit during the pandemic – they were some of the first to close their doors and the last to reopen – but organizations like the Milton Film Festival pivoted, found solutions and continued to tell stories, entertain us and ensure the arts remained available and present in our lives. I’m thrilled that the Milton Film Festival is one of ten local community organizations which has received financial support through this fund, not just because I’m a huge fan of cinema and our local festival, but also because I see what important work they do throughout the year supporting artists and the arts. That has never been more important than it is today. Thank you to everyone involved in the Milton Film Festival, congratulations on the funding, you deserve it, and I’m so proud that our government is making these important investments right here at home, supporting Milton and Miltonians.”

“Community service organizations are at the heart of communities like Milton, creating a sense of belonging from coast to coast to coast. The Community Services Recovery Fund will enable the organizations that serve our diverse communities to adapt and modernize their programs and services and to invest in the future of their organizations, staff, and volunteers. Together, we can rebuild from the isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic and build a more just and equitable future for those in Milton,” added the Minister of Families, Children and Social Development, Jenna Sudds.

The Milton Film Festival is dedicated to maintaining its reputation as a hub of cinematic excellence and community enrichment. The support from the Community Services Recovery Fund aligns perfectly with these goals and will undoubtedly contribute to the festival’s ongoing success.
